Does work the other way a ttimes, we've played teams already relegated and not got the

result expected before, pressure is off them.

I think if a team is winding down just short of success, missing out on the P/O etc, they are more likely to drop off than a team winding down after surviving, who might start to enjoy playing again.

No data at all, just how it feels.
