There are different types of fitness, aren't there

As I understand it (and that is, not deeply) a lot of heptathlon training is really technical - focuses on technique for things like javelin, high jump, shot putt etc.

You can choose to sacrifice some of that technical work to focus more on cardio, aerobic fitness etc - but it comes at a cost (technique in all those different disciplines). There are only so many training hours in the week.

I think they chose to reallocate a bit of her training time towards aerobic fitness and away from technical training. Which worked, in that she smashed her 800m PB by more than 2 secs (but she did go backwards on some of the more technical disciplines).

But am no expert...
