The self service beers in the Lion and Castle is a bit naff

they had now fewer than seven staff there to look after it.

I thought it would some kind of vending machine type thing, but you have to pay a staff member standing next to the pump you have chosen, they have to activate it with a card, and then you - somewhat pointlessly - have to pour it yourself.

Plus the lager and IPA they had - we had one of each - are mostly froth, and you had to pour about a pint's worth away to get a pint of actual beer.
