I agree it always seemed he was being groomed for it

But, I’m not sure he wants the spotlight again after how his managerial role went.

If he took the sporting director role, he’d have to leave NCFC in 3 - 5 years when the fans got annoyed with him. Whereas I think he’d quite happily spend the rest of his career here.

Sporting director is a tough gig. Comes with a lot of pressure.
