So what option would YOU prefer?

It'll almost certainly be a trade off between doing it early and the amount we get. So would you rather accept less or leave it late? Because at the moment you look like you're just preparing to criticise him literally whatever we do - for accepting too low a bid if we do it early or leaving it too late if we hold out for more.
I suspect in practice it will be between the two - late but not last minute (can think of a few players we knew were leaving but who still played in the first game e.g. Fer, Godfrey)
