Three successive Norwich managers have deemed him not good enough to be in the first team squad for one reason or another.
We paid 350k for him (with add ons but unlikely any of those were activated), and sold him for 1m plus add ons (to a League One side, so far more chance of activating them).
A handful of Norwich appearances over 3 years mostly in cup games, had one impressive sub appearance for the first team where he was played out of position.
My only regret with this is that perhaps we should have given him more chances in that left wing position - it's not like we didn't need a bit of a spark many times! But as a full back or wing back he never looked the finished article when I've seen him.
But we didn't, so I suspect that we felt attachment to Mumba for other reasons - perhaps the fact that his name was fantastic? Or that he had been hyped on the TV in that Sunderland documentary?
He did really well for Plymouth in League One, and so why have the lad sit on the bench for years to come when we can get a healthy profit for him? OK, if we get relegated this season then we will regret letting him go, but if that happens we have far more to worry about.
