Loads! When I was young, like you Nx we went all through France...

with Eurocamp. We did that for a few years then, with our family friends who we'd always familied with, bought a trailer tent.

I always remember my Mother (so ok it was a long long time ago) how much cheaper it was to book the ferries (always Portsmouth/St Malo) and dealing with camp sites was fine. She spoke fluent french but they always have an English speaker available.

There's also similar Eurosite places. I was 18 last time I went to France and we stayed below (try your own search, it's just thats the one we stayed at). Own tent or rent a mobile home. Either way - I guess it will be vastly cheaper than Eurocamp.

Ask Dave Jeans when he's on, he has some experience in this!! I love the standing stones of Carnac and the beaches are nice too - although no waves for surfing so we used to venture further to Jard Sur Mer - brill surfing!!! (ok, bodyboarding!!)
