And yep, tbh I do think the Moeen pick is an imperfect stop-gap. If he can get close to his best form/potential then he could be a real match winner. I suspect that he'll be a handy, though frustrating contributor.
Truth is, we've needed to sort, and bed in, serious backup for Leach since Mo and Rashid stepped back - though there is a gap between that era and the (seriously promising) next gen.
My next thought would've been Livingstone, tho he's even less of a test match player.
If Ahmed and Jacks kick on then the future does look bright - making sure that they're drafted in when properly prepped gives them a better chance of having a Warne-like impact, rather than being nipped in the bud. V delicate balance to strike.
So, yeah, an imperfect sticking plaster, but really the only sensible choice (on paper...)
