The U21s have a couple of new recruits, namely Michael McIntyre (Mid/CB from Forest GR) and Ben Watt (a RB released by Oxfd Utd last summer). Along with David Aziaya (U18?) these have signed Pro deals (length unknown)
Norwich City now boast 60 players on Pro contracts [plus the 16 Scholars, plus the legion of support staff] This is where the money goes!
Clarke & Earley are out on loan, with others expected to follow. The squad size is currently 20.
The first friendly for U21s is taking place today, vs MK at Colney. Barden, Berry, D-P, Rose, St Paul, Soto & Warner are all missing from the line-up.
Matches vs Hibs, Braintree, Wingate & Finchley & Ipswich follow, before the season starts.
The U18s welcomed ten new Scholars [ Ansen, Doy, McCabe, Pinyoun, Renecke, Roberts & Thompson were already involved at schoolboy levels, with Pedro Amadou, Uriah Djedje & Leon Giller new joiners (I think))
For the last week the Yoot have been on a training camp in the Mourne mountains, Co Down. They’ve been doing plenty of work on the pitch and gym and, likely taking part in some team-building stuff at their picturesque base.
When they return to England they will play friendlies vs Southend, Luton, Stevenage, Ipswich & Everton.
It has been confirmed that Reading’s Academy has lost its Cat One status, but the club say they will reapply at the earliest opportunity. They join Birmingham & Burnley in being ‘relegated’ from Cat One.
The fixtures for U21 and U18 Leagues are expected to be released next week.
