One method would be to acknowledge the issue with paper ticketing and the ease with which they can be forged.

One solution I have thought of, but maybe there are gaps I haven’t worked out yet, is to issue tickets digitally to phones which have NFC support, and have turnstiles with NFC readers on them. Something like Apple Wallet etc.

If you don’t have such a phone then you can pay an extra fiver for a physical NFC ticket

Not 100% but I think more resistant to fraud and more efficient to check than the existing paper systems.
