Modern tickets

Browsing the news this morning i see that UEFA are blaming holdups down to counterfeit tickets for some of the issues last night.

I've certainly worried about this recently in regard to gigs. My first one back post all the pandemic disruption was taking CC Jr to see Mitski in Brizzol. Tickets sold out instantly, (bots must've hoovered up the majority) as pressing 'refresh' at 5 seconds past 9 revealed it to be sold out...

I'm aware of another site which holds back tickets in batches (mostly for record stores and local resellers) so got ours from there.

But queuing to get in it was properly apparent that all I had was an email with a couple of QR codes on it. Quite a lot of the bits of paper people were brandishing were from different online portals.

Policing virtual tickets must be both easy (you scan it, in you go) and a nightmare, cos there's nothing to stop touts from selling the same email to loads of people (there weren't many touts outside the gig, I presume most stay warm and comfy these days reselling through the 'official' resale sites at 300% markup)

Trying to resolve/reject tickets that are fake must be a PITA for event organisers.
