The club have already activated the option for next season, so unless we sell / release him we already know he will be a Norwich City footballer next season, the year he turns 33.
So why on earth would it be exciting if he signed a new contract taking him to the age of 34 or older?
Club legend absolutely, but it would make no sense whatsoever to be thinking about that until seeing how he is fairing toward the end of next season. If he isn't showing a decline, then maybe offer him another year.
Only sound reason I can think for club or Teemu to sign a new contract would be if he is even more of a legend than we thought, and is offering to REDUCE his salary in order to fee up some room for other signings. If we are in the situation where we need to do that kind of thing though, it would be far more worrying than exciting.
