So one of the key factors in the rise of inflation is the cost of energy.

Surely one of the adverse side effects of the government (ie, us!) giving everyone £400 to spend on energy is going to keep the prices high? I realise that everyone needs the help and that is really not what I'm talking about of course, but isn't this like the taxpayer, through the government, subsidising the energy companies?
