And FWIW... The idea makes way less sense now than it ever did.

With the advancements of battery technology and fast chargers there may be no need for this in the future.

Especially if we stop making heavy electric vehicles (yes you Elon!)
And have lighter vehicles for everyday use like the Aptera which makes far more sense for most people commuting.
