Recruitment done piecemeal

I think that there wasn’t an overall plan to recruit the players we needed. Each was recruited without reference to the players we already had or were in the process of getting.

I’m sure that each and every player we brought in ticked boxes that we required. It’s just that there were a number of boxes that remained unticked or ticked by the wrong people. You can’t knock Josh Sargent’s work rate but that box wasn’t ticked by any of the midfield players, where it is essential!

Another required midfield box is the ability to defend and tackle. Not sure that even Normann has this in his locker.

As someone used to say, we need 6’ of Nigerian muscle. And we still do!
