He is a decent guy but he's used this line about the team being recruited to play

possession football a couple of times now and it smacks as an excuse - or at least a way to deflect any blame from himself.

If, as he claims, the squad is all about possession, why are they so utterly rubbish at passing under him? I think the teams he puts out are the worst I can remember for possession.

I don't know if they were recruited for 'farkeball'. Most of the old squad I'd associated with farkeball had gone by this season and this new lot never really got a chance to get going under Daniel's coaching. I remember watching the first game against Liverpool and seeing some progressive play but also wincing as Gilmour or PLM either lost the ball or passed it backwards. But I put this down to lack of pre-season, tough opposition and the fact that it seems to take time for a DF team to gel.

We'll never know what would have happened. I'm coming round to the conclusion that they just weren't good enough - whoever coached them.

If we stick with Deansmith, of course I'll wish him luck and want the best for him but it's SO FRUSTRATING that it seems like we're going to have to start all over again from new.
