it's pretty much all meaningless twaddle that doesn't need doing

state opening of parliament, get the winner of britain's got talent to do it, at least they have been elected. meeting foreign heads of state - double hat the prime minister he seems to have a lot of time on his hands swanning around india, ukraine and now sweden and finland. signing off on assents and orders; the lord president of the privy council can self sign off. swanning about the commonwealth in colonial uniforms can get in the sea. garden parties, the same. can the honours system, it's outdated and abused by the two main political parties. royal variety performance and all the other junkets can get in the bin. we've already got a bicarmal parliament we don't need a multi billionaire monarch and all the hangers on to do a few meaningless tasks.
