IMHO, When Dean Smith took the job....

There had to have been a discussion about next season.
Clearly he didn't buy these players so in the event of the likely relegation how would the club proceed?
If he was likely to get sacked on relegation then it would probably be a poor move for him long term.
I would think there had to be some kind of soft guarantee that he would be at least given a chance to shape/rebuild the team in the champs to give it a go next year.
