All of that conjecture is irrelevant. He was under contract and he would have got over it

Like he did before. he would have been playing in the premier league.

I will admit there is an argument thta had he had a sh*t season he would potentially have lost value but i think that is overridden by the absolutely terrible message sent out by selling your best player before a ball has even been kicked.
