Obviously not now, we’re totally cooked and we’re finishing deservedly in bottom place. But even after a season of awful awful signings, serving up utter garbage much of the time, we haven’t been THAT far off.
This season is going to burn (is burning) because of the what ifs. If only we had taken just a few better decisions.
- why did we buy Rashica and Tzolis when they play in the same position. 20m on what was a low priority position if you ask me.
- why sign Tzolis at all? He’s been miles off ready.
- who scouted Sarge, a striker that never had scored goals, and looks as likely to start scoring goals as I do, when we were desperate to add goals to give us another option alongside Pukki?
- why was young Idah not given a loan to improve his play and build his confidence?
- why did we pay 8.5m for Gibson? We got totally rinsed on that option. Compare with Burn at 12.
- add that to 5m for a reserve FB and 5m for a reserve keeper. 10m right there.
- why did we get Gilmour, when midfield was already too small, weak and slow?
- why did we sign Normann when he’s arrived injured and has barely been fit? Where was the due diligence?
- why did we sign Kabak, when he’s barely been fit too? Two sick notes, neither have improved the team.
Replace Skipp. Replace Emi. Add another good option upfront. Failed on all counts, not even obvious we tried. And instead we’ve wazed away 50m, to deliver one signing that is broadly a success (Rashica), a number of clear failures and a lot of people who won’t be here next year come what may.
We have gone backwards this season, miles and miles backwards. It’s such a shame. If only we had spent that money on the areas where we were crying out, clearly, visibly in need of reinforcement.
What an absolute f**k up of a season.
