I don't think many people get anywhere near him, brave or otherwise

& any/most serious opponents have been killed before now. I also suspect that the view of many Russians is that somehow or other this is all the fault of the West - I wouldn't underestimate the extent to which they think they're victims - sanctions ++ may well make them think that even more vehemently
