All the discussion about us lining up forces in Ukraine neatly avoids the elephant in the room that at the start of the week Ukraine was asking the west not to escalate/be alarmist.
Advocating parking weapons in other people's countries, fighting wars in other people's countries?
This is nothing like 1939.
Stockpiling weapons in the early part of the last century did nothing to prevent two world wars. We've spent years of history lessons looking at the economic /political triggers of that.
This is nothing like 1939
In the slightest.
(do you really think Russia is going to roll tanks into France? (a nuclear power).
Do you think Russia is really going to attack a country signed up to Nato?
It's all alarming because the world is smaller, we all know (are married to, relations/friends with) people all over the world. It makes it more personal, but the idea that we pile into war in Ukraine is madness.
The last 80 ish years of 'peace' (there's been nothing of the sort) should be teaching us about the dangers of trying to police other people's countries.
Nb- I am as appalled as everyone at the recent news
