the other night on the sky tv someone was doing a footy comms report back to the studio

she said "[player] put the ball right across the pitch onto a sixpence" and i thought you can't have been around when sixpences were in circulation. i guess the meaning isn't as specific if she had have said a 5 pence piece, however a sixpence [19.4mm] in diameter is actually bigger than a 5 pence piece [18mm] so if [player] had have put it on a five pence piece that would have been more impressive.

the lack of research is breathtaking. lazy.
