The Ground was Lower Mead

I’ve been there hundreds of times over the years, until the ground was sold in 1989 and a decent chunk of the proceeds were invested in an ill-fated groundshare with Watford which Wealdstone walked away from. There was a great deal of financial dodgy dealing to do with the ground sale and the Stones ended up losing boatload of cash. Tesco moved in and the Stones fans ended up picketing the store as there was a dispute on the amount they paid for the site, I think they ended up getting around £400k back from them.

Barnet’s new ground that Wealdstone started with is in Camrose Avenue on the old Prince Edward Playing Fields, I played several hockey matches there for my school in the late 1970’s.
