French politics is a little bit f**ked at the minute. Their system does have a history of throwing up Hobson's Choices: the crook Chirac or the fascist Le Pen, which one gets your vote? Macron is an idiot. But sooner him that whichever fascist gets on the ballot paper this time around. It would be nice if someone who wasn't a loon and could be trusted to run a bath and maybe even a small lemonade stand was at least on the ticket this time around.
