They just weren’t of the same experience and calibre as Smith’s

Farke and his team essentially learned on the job here and their only seasons (perhaps in their careers?) of not being one of the better teams were our PL tilts. And they had Emi for much of their time here.

Probably skewed how they approached things. Would be interesting to see how they get on in Russia.
