The ancient Celts brought brewing to the British Isles when they fled the European continent ahead of advancing Germanic tribes in the second half of the 5th century ad. In 15th-century England, hopped beer was famously introduced by Flemish immigrants. The more people moved, the further their beer cultures spread.
