it's really not hard to figure it out

Two men take advantage of someone for 40 years and exploit him for cheap labour through psychological (and probably at some point originally physical) abuse. The victim will probably (although not necessarily) suffer from severe learning difficulties or a similarly debilitating disability of some description.

The notion of 'free will' in cases such as this is laughable.
