Personally I think it’s as much about that step when you say no.

If you have allotted slots for not drinking you start assuming you will drink at other times, so you do anyway, even if you don’t need to. Then, after a while, you do need to.

I’ve done dry months before and also no weekday drinking, neither of which were particularly inspiring or otherwise. At the moment I don’t drink during the week, mainly because I want to lose Christmas weight (f**king cheese). However I did get absolutely punished watching the Watford game with other ideots. As someone else said, deep down we all know when it’s going wrong. It’s being able to take a step back from that which is important, I guess.
