Long covid is a slippery beggar and it'll be years before we get a grip on what the true impact is. It's why I struggle to see the point in lifting non-limiting precautions (masks) and not going hell for leather to improve ventilation etc.
A close family member caught covid badly in the first year, and is still impacted by it. A couple of guys at work have caught the newer strains a couple of times (from their kids) which has led to a lower level, but still long term impact.
And far more have been fine.
The vaccines do seem to make a massive difference to the numbers of people I see having lingering problems.
(all anecdotal, natch, though I do see a wide cross section at work)
