Can't help but think he's been poorly advised by the people around him, and has now successfully dug himself a great big hole.
I tell you what, you've got to be REALLY good for people in football to look past what has been a prolonged period of being wholly unproductive as a result of what appears to be an attitude problem/massive argument with the club. None of us know the truth, but football is such a short term game you need people that will do everything for the cause, and do it now. Immediate impact. Given the history of him flouncing, would you waz away your precious player budget on him?
My guess is Bournemouth are taking a punt on him, getting him pretty cheap for a few months, at a time when they need more bodies and options. It MAY work, but it's a cheap gamble for them in a division where to be fair he has played really well in the past. If he magically switches it back on, it could work out, but equally he might now be lacking match fitness/sharpness and maybe it won't work. After all, Bournemouth are not in a where they can wait for him to play himself back into form in a couple of months time. If he plays like he has so far for us this season, he's going to get hammered and dropped.
I fear for him, and his lost career. If he f**ks this up, at that point, it's probably off to Sunderland you go, or some similar graveyard for wonderkids that got lost along the way. It's a very sad end for him here already, but he really is on the road to nowhere as it stands.
