You are right, it is a possibility, but in my view, unlikely. Maybe it's a factor, I don't know.

Have you watched Farke's interview at Krasnador? "I don't like vanity in the dressing room". We know Cantwell has a bit of an ego, we see it for ourselves and his perception of his worth was noted as an issue when he was last negotiating his contract. I find it hard to imagine they might have fallen out.

The thing that makes me think mentally he has checked out is that he doesn't really seem to be desperate to get back in the side, and agreeing a new contract seems very unlikely.

Maybe there are personal factors at play, I have no idea, it's all speculation. What I've posted above is speculation. Just my view on the most likely scenario.
