The £30 million figure never made sense, homegrown or not, as there are players with far better track records who'll be going for much less than that.
Add to that he's effectively had about six months of not playing or performing and if we're questioning his motivation you can be damn certain somebody thinking of buying him will be too.
Unfortunately, I think he'll eventually go for an undisclosed fee, probably of a couple of million, with add ons in case he perks up again.
Seriously struggle to think who'd want him, and that he'd be prepared to go to...
Such a waste. It really feels, post Smith, that the ball is in his court entirely.
