i doubt it will happen really, russian posturing

putin posturing i mean, he's trying to stop the nato-fication of the former soviet union. if he invaded and won russia would inevitibly result in the deaths of large numbers of civilian russian people in ukraine (600,000 live in the donbas region alone). the balanced view is that ukraine joining nato is an extreme example of strategic over-reach but some nato members (uk) don't see it that way and then ukraine would probably seek eu membership and they've enough on their plate. fascinating to see how it plays out.
