Amazing the difference scoring first makes

Especially if you do it twice in two minutes.

Players run that little bit faster, tackle that little bit harder, even their touch and passing is a little sharper.

And the fans are also energised, cheering every tackle, clapping every half decent pass.

Usually we’re 1-0 down after 5 or 10 minutes and everyone’s just depressed, on and off the pitch.

Belief is not everything, but it’s more than half the battle.
