it was noticeable today how few times Everton were able to play through the center

I think it's the biggest sign that the two midfielders are doing their defensive job well, when pretty much all opposition attacks are coming from wide areas.

Not sure that would have been the case if Gilmour or McLean were starting. They just don't have that positional ability of a proper DM.
