On the surface it seems a bit petty...

I'm sure there is more to it than meets the eye, but without any factual evidence people come up with their own theories. I would have thought to try and protect their asset Norwich would have offered him a fair amount, so he doesn't walk out for nothing. His value has already halved, so it's going down to damage limitation.

Ultimately, you've got to hope everything is ok with him and he's getting decent advice.
