heh - as a chemist

I'm highly doubtful about the likelihood of biosignatures.

Have you read any Paul Davies? He's pretty good on the probabilities/difficulties of going from non-life to life on the basis of what we know of thermodynamics (and the evidence from here, relevance of stereoisomers etc.). Tends to just get dismissed with hand-wavy, but look how biiiiig the universe is. I've yet to see a convincing mechanism for getting from even the basic building blocks to replicable strands. Am even more cynical about people suggesting that evolution can kick in before such replication.

But hey, that's the joy of science - looking forward to being proved wrong (and particularly how).

(also been impressed by the writings of Sabine Hossenfelder on some of the difficulties facing the LHC and theoretical physics)

(also enjoyed the audiobook version of Stephen Hawking's last book, read by Ben Wishaw... nothing beats being taught cosmology by Paddington!!!)
