I used to use the C drawer philosophy…(before email but still works)

Divide all your post daily into three piles.

Pile A you must respond to

Pile B you probably should respond to

Pile C can wait.

Then take pile B and divide into those that will chase for a response which are added to pile A and those that probably won’t which you add to pile C.

Pick up pile C and place in your “C drawer” and forget them. Do not throw away.

Deal with pile A only. You now have half the work.

If something in the C drawer becomes urgent you can retrieve it and move to pile A with the comment “I’ve got it here and am working on it”
