Yes, VAR hasn't really helped

players have just got more clever. They may no longer dive without contact, but they've worked out how to dive at the merest hint of contact and make it look like a foul even with video replays.

Silva's a prime example. A massive dive, and the little shirt pull made no impact on him at all, but technically a pen.
