He makes more accurate passes than any other player, 90% of them go to a teammate who is immediately under pressure and either needs an outlet or loses the ball, Gilmour usually doesn’t move to get in a position to receive the ball unless he can get rid to someone 10 feet away. If he retains the ball he is easily brushed off it.
The other half is that there is too much publicity that unlike e.g. Skipp who was Norwich (on loan from Spurs) he has always been Chelsea (on loan at Norwich) as if he is the one doing us the favour rather than the other way round. Too many pundits decrying his lack of game time under Farke and even yesterday’s reports focussing on the abuse rather than performance.
To be fair to the player he has never publicly expressed disquiet or reacted to the hoi poloi but if he is to be a great player he needs to shape his game to fit our team rather than concentrate on what it looks like on paper at the end of the season.
