(although I still think it is too soon to be confident) that if the disease is milder in most people, it is a good thing if it replaces Delta quickly.
Infection rates being so high of course adds risk on health service and industry / infrastructure but best scenario would be ripping through the population in Christmas period when many people are off anyway, and hopefully then slowing down fast as a high degree of immunity present in the population.
Fingers crossed anyway, but again still think we'd have to wait two or three weeks more to have any degree of confidence as to whether the milder disease is consistent or whether it's just 1) spreading faster among younger people who are less likely to develop serious illness or 2) spreading faster among vaccinated people who again are protected (even if less than before) against developing serious illness. Note: I mean spreading faster among the vaccinated than Delta spread, not that it would spread faster among the vaccinated than the unvaccinated of course.
