But Xmas parties are simple to understand and relate to. Regressive tax policies not so much. Public procurement is zzzZzz even for those of us Involved in it. The FCO cock ups were tens of thousands of miles away so who cares and anyway, ‘awww, poor dogs’.

But parties when granny was dying alone? That’s easy to sell isn’t it. It doesn’t even matter if they were legal or not. optics.
