Sorry but two things wrong with this thread

1) Maximum cheat had also lapped the 5 cars before the Safety Car - they passed him whilst on the track. It was in Red Bullies strategy that the lapped cars would unlap themselves giving themselves an advantage.

2) Hamilton could not have pitted on the next lap as the Pit Lane is closed and no further pit stops allowed even if they were he would have come out in last place at the back of the snake of cars and couldn’t overtake.

Whilst I am still certain that RB stole the race and therefore the championship my reasoned thoughts are that the SC process is actually totally unfair on whoever the lead driver is whenever it happens as they are restricted in their decision making process. Even on lap 20 whoever is in the lead is effectively put in a position where whatever they decide to do The second place team would have an easy choice to do the opposite and gain an advantage either on track or with fresh tyres. Perhaps there should be a rule that if the SC is needed with 10 or less laps to go the race is stopped and the cars re start from the pit lane in the order on the track at the time the SC would have been deployed with a time gap equal to that at the point of the Incident giving rise to the SC.
