Back from the game... view from The Barclay (lower, D Block)...

I'd have been disappointed with just a draw, so to lose was particularly galling after such a good performance.

That it took a soft penalty involving and converted by Ronaldo in a game where he was kept in the pocket of the City defence shows the level of our display.

This was the LR7 show and the CR version was pretty anonymous throughout... apart from the convincing lean back and drop when touched by Aaron's hand/arm.

Ruup was commanding in midfield, best game for us and ably supported by both McLean and, for once, Gilmour.

Placheta was outstanding, giving us a real outlet and showing no sign of his stilted form of last season.

Sargent worked his socks off and there is a player there if he can get confidence.

Lungi was pretty faultless when asked to step in, again, in an unfamiliar position. He's got to be worth a start somewhere!

Three world class saves from the normally average De Gea saved them. Another day and Pukki's shot and both Kabak's headers nestle in the net.

PLM looked rusty and we lost a bit when he came on. Cantwell was OK but didn't pull up any trees.

Couple of great stops from Tim, as we've come to expect.

All in all, bloody frustrating, but lots of positives and more confidence for Tuesday against Aston Village.

Generally all wearing masks in the Russell Allison lounge, except when drinking or eating... not so many in the toilets.

We can win Tuesday, and probably need to.
