they should never have tried before. We’ve had it throughout history that those in charge have banned things that are seen as bad for us, so it doesn’t seem that different to me.
Of course there is a balance and there will be people on different sides, but in this case, I say lucky old kids in NZ.
My grandmother worked in Wills cigarette factory in Bristol and would be given free cigarettes. My mum and dad were life long smokers. In fact they probably started around the age of 14 (same age as those kids in NZ). As long as I can remember, they wanted to give up. None of their six kids became smokers. I wonder if it was because we disliked having to live around so much smoke – in the house and in the car? They were different times and I don’t blame or judge them but cigarette smoking is not for me.
If the New Zealand government were trying to ban smoking for people who had already started smoking, I might be more inclined to agree with you but I can’t see a problem with this.
