i don't really agree that

it was also medical - open now and we'll have more cases immediately (which will cause criticism, as it did) but fewer later ... or don't open now in which case we'll be criticised in a different way, but may end up with a tonne load of cases ion winter, which will be worse. of course there was medical advice against it, just as there was medical advice for it

which is not much to do with this gov's competence generally - but i think they got that decision right, for the right reasons
