Ok I get it where you have back to back tests you might rest Jimmy for the 2nd one (or if playing 7 tests in a summer you might rotate a bit in the latter tests) but this nonsense about saving him for a particular game regardless of what the pitches look like is stupid. Have Stokes in there as your back up option in case he tires in any particular match.
First test, greenish pitch. We knew it would be. Seam attack well rested. Play your best bowling attack and try and get your nose in front as opposed to fighting a rearguard action which we now have to do.
