Something deeply broken there.

My gut instinct remains that the problem lies somewhere between our analysis bods and coaches.

Our batsmen do okay to begin with, they get analysed by opposing coaches, flaws found out and exploited. We then regularly hear from the coaches and players that they've just been told to go out and enjoy their cricket and 'play their game'... To the inevitable results.

I don't believe that our analysts are worse than the rest of the world, but we're pitiful at translating what we learn into improvements.
