Nah different species innit

Your feral rat is brown and nasty and bitey. Whereas your fancy rat or your Dumbo rat - we have some of each - are basically furry moving things which accept cuddles. Thus rendering them perfect pets for my daughter (in particular; though I must confess I have developed a fondness for them)
